Roomies! at the disco

Yesterday I went into the city to meet up with Kevin and Emmy for the Panic! concert. I went to pick up and visit Kevin at work. I love watching the faces on the business people who get off at the Wall St. stop with me! Here they are, all suited up and I'm all funky boots and things. I waited in his office for a little bit and then we went to Penn Station to meet up with M. We were trying to take her to the Korean restaurant we went to for the AAR concert but we just couldn't find it so we just randomly chose one because we were pressed for time. The restaurant prices were more expensive but the portions were huge though. We all shared a seafood pancake, along with some spicy pork and squid. Even though we were stuffed silly, I wanted to take M to Pinkberry because she loves the Calpis drinks too! I got the same thing as my first time and M got the plain yogurt with raspberries and blackberries.

Here's M and I at the restaurant and indulging in some dessert! Somebody wouldn't stop sneaking shots of us eating so there are quite a few "flattering" ones that I will keep private.

We got to the Theater at MSG around 7:30 and by the time we got seated, we had missed most of the first act. Originally it was supposed to be Bloc Party, but they switched it to Plain White Tees. No biggie, I wasn't planning on going for them anyways. Then Jack's Mannequin (I had wanted to see them) came on and they were really good! I'm quite impressed actually. I love the piano incorporation that they have. Plus, Andrew McMahon has some crazy piano/dance moves that I respect. They sang most of my faves so I was happy!

Then it was Panic! time! The stage setup was nuts, they had band members propped up and they maintained the circus/burlesque vibe throughout the entire concert. How was the concert? Freaking awesome! They sounded great and there was so much to watch that it was hard to pay attention to just one thing. They had dancers, acrobats, and people on stilts, all the works. I'm glad M informed me about how "young" they all were! The lead singer Brendon is nuts, he can play ALL these instruments! There's this song "There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet" that I always bust out and do these moves to and he totally did the same thing that I always do! So oooonagi! During another song, the lyrics were "will you dance to this beat and hold a lover close" and I totally grabbed Emmy and scared the crap outta her! Hehe, she got her revenge on the way out when she molested my head. I had an awesome time bouncing around and belting out the lyrics with my roomies, love you guys!

After the concert, Kevin and I walked Emmy back to Pinkberry so that she could meet up with Kimmy to take Port Authority home. I decided that I'd get a smoothie for the train ride home. When we got there, I noticed that Kimmy and her friends had mochi in their cups! Apparently, they do have mochi there but they keep it underneath the counter so you have to ask for it. There went the smoothie idea, I gave in and got another green tea cup with just mochi this time. Very yummy, Kevin still can't believe I had it twice in one day.

Since Kevin was in his work attire, I told him to take off his tie for the concert cause he would really stand out. Or everyone could just think he's a daddy waiting to pick up his kiddies, I guess. Well, I forgot to give it back to him and Cinnamon is now holding it for ransom in exchange for 20,000 cookies! How come everything looks so good on him?

Did they say why the Bloc Party cancelled? I actually would have liked to see them more than Panic!

Naw, have no clue why Bloc Party wasn't on. They've been out for a while right?

I...have no idea what you mean. If you mean has the band been around for a while, they've been in existance roughly the same length of time Panic! has, yes. According to AMazon, their first album came out a year before Panic!'s first, so there you go.

Ooh, unless you mean they've been off the tour for a while, which I would have no clue about. I didn't even know they had been touring together at all until this blog update.

Oh, I just meant this band has been out before Panic. I do believe that they were known as other names before finally sticking with Bloc Party.

I found out why Bloc Party isn't touring for the time being. Their drummer was admitted into the hospital with a collapsed lung so they've cancelled a bunch of shows.
