A real shocker
I did an extremely stupid thing this morning, all because I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. My hands must not have been completely dry as I was plugging in the hair dryer. I don't know what possessed me to plug it in a weird manner, but as I plugged it in, my index finger went towards the back where the socket was. Immediately, I felt this shooting pain through my finger. I dropped to the ground like an enormous rock, felt a slight pain in my heart which then turned to intense heart pounding. My finger was red and felt like it was on fire and I was so woozy. I can't believe how quickly my body gave out and caused me to drop to the ground - I don't think you could even fake dropping to the ground in the manner that I did. It took me a few minutes to calm myself down and be able to stand up. I really would have wanted to stay on the ground longer but I had a meeting to get to. During the car ride, the finger went back to the normal color but was feeling tingly but the heart was still pounding like crazy. It was such a scary experience and I would never want to go through it again. It's bad that I sort of laugh when I'm retelling this but that's just the way I am.
So yeah, those rules you learn as a kid - there's a reason for them! I just need to be more cautious now, and not be so careless because of stress. I know I'm real lucky that all I got was a shock.

Does your house have the voltage cranked up more than it should? I only ask because I stuck a paper clip in a socket once in seventh grade, and it didn't cause close to that kind of a reaction. So I guess what I'm saying is that I'm more man than you.
Wow, be more careful! I'm sure you won't allow for this to happen again though. So glad you are okay!!
OMG - I can't believe you did that! I don't know about the voltage but maybe b/c there was some water involved? Well, of course you're more man than me. Just look at your last name - then again, you do order apple martinis :P As a kid, I definitely did touch the iron out of curiousity - icky painful bubble formed on my finger.
A lesson learned, I will definitely pay attention :)
shocking O_O
