Thu-thu-thu-thunder!

What was with the crazy scary thunderstorms these past few days?!? The power in the house would go out for a few seconds and each time the thunder struck, our entire house would shake and rattle. It also wasn't any fun having to look at my window each time I heard car alarms go off, making sure it wasn't mine.

These past few months, Cinnamon has decided that thunder/lightning freaks him out! Like so freaked out that he paces around the house like a madman, nothing can calm him down. He tries to hide in places that don't fit his body and gets no sleep, which also means no sleep for me. It's the strangest thing because before, it never bothered him one bit! I don't know what caused the sudden change. The other night, we tried something which seems to be the only way that keeps him from wanting to dig a hole into the ground to hide. We put him inside a big cardboard box, lined with a blanket, and we leave the top slightly open. It was only in there, that he stopped pacing around and looking for somewhere else to hide.

Where's Cinny? Can you find him?

I was attempting to organize some of the folders on my computer when I came upon this video that I took of him while he was snoring away. Keep in mind, this is just a taste, he can be much louder than this! I don't understand how such a tiny thing can produce such a loud sound. Thanks to M, I know now how to put videos here, so here's my first attempt.

Likey or no likey

I've been pretty busy with balls to the wall days, and I got incredibly sick so I've been out of commission for a while. I'm feeling better but I'm definitely not 100% yet. I don't even know what's really wrong with me or how I got anything - you'd think I must have drunk a whole cup of germs and bacteria.

There have been definitely a lot of movies I've watched these past few weeks. With me not having much energy, just sitting there is a great solution. So here are my quick thumbs up or thumbs down on a few:
  • Ocean's 13 - It was definitely better than the sequel but I still think the first one was the best. Though I think they focused on making the one-liner jokes, which took away from the original feel of the movie.
  • Surf's Up - I thought it was a cute movie with a nice message for the kiddies. Other animated movies are better than this though.
  • Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer - It was eh, had a few funny scenes here and there. What they did with the Silver Surfer was incredibly weak though. After a comment someone made about the suits being so skin tight, all I kept focusing on was the moose knuckles and camel toe. I think of all the Marvel comic movies, this one is the weakest. But the main killer? How did they make someone as gorgeous as Jessica Alba look so horrible?!? She was on the verge of being knocked off my list as a result of that.
  • Waitress - I loved this movie! I'm a huge fan of Keri Russell so that's what initially attracted me to this. It was funny and cute - a lot of awkwardness that just made you laugh. All the pie names were a great touch too. The only thing is that I felt bad for rooting for the leads because they were both cheating on their spouses. Though in Jenna's (Keri's character) case, her husband was both physically and emotionally abusive.
  • Evan Almighty - I liked this, but I think Bruce Almighty was funnier. But I guess there's a lot more they could do with someone playing God as opposed to Noah. I still love Steve Carell though!

Other than that, I've been enjoying Kevin's new Wii! On a whim and a stroke of luck, he was able to find one after work. It's pretty awesome and there are so many games out there that look so cute and fun. Too bad the games cost quite a bit though!

Cinnamon's got his controller strapped on for some fun! Look at him, all Wii-ed out.

Cinny showing off his new turtle toy. He actually sniffed it out and took it out of the bag before I was ready to give it to him. The last turtle toy he attacked has no eyeballs left so I hope Mr. Woo-Gwai-Dan doesn't share the same fate!

Showtime

The Nelly Furtado concert that I went to last night was awesome! It was completely last minute and to make the long story short, someone bailed out and I ended up going with Jess. I was pretty exhausted from the long day on Wednesday but this was a great upper. I am a fan of Nelly but she's not someone that I would have to see live. She sounds great live, not to mention she's so gorgeous! I loved her clothes and her voice was so cute! I was so excited that she sang most of the songs from her latest album and even a bunch of old stuff. At one point, she started autographing a bunch of soccer balls and chucked them into the crowd. I definitely had a fun time singing and dancing around. The only thing that sucked was the drunken girls around us. I couldn't believe how many girls were "skanked" out. Uhm, it's a Nelly Furtado concert and most of the fans are girls too, what's the point? There were two really wasted girls in front of us. They were screaming at each other and just being really irate. One of them was doing these really disturbing moves, all she was missing was a stripper pole! Eventually she went into the aisle and started doing these dips with her legs. It was one of those situations where I wanted to pay attention to the concert but I couldn't help seeing her out of the corner of my eye.

Cinny's new haircut! He's got these strands of hair that just stick up. (This is from a little help from me)

Cinnamon rocking out for Nelly!

More at peace

A year ago from today, was when I lost my grandfather. I still can't believe it's been a year already. Just a year ago, I was on my cruise, completely unaware of what had happened. I think for me, the hardest part was dealing with that guilt. It definitely took me a long time to stop beating myself up and to let go of that guilt of not being here when it happened. I went to the cemetery today and did all those Asian traditions that we're supposed to do. I don't understand any of it but I just follow along, anything to help make my mom and grandmother feel better. I know that for me personally, being here today helped cleanse my guilt even more. It's the strangest thing, today and the time I went a month ago, the weather became freakishly cool just for that day. I was able to compose myself a lot better than the last time. Though I can't say that for last night, since I had a slight break down. I guess since this was an actual marker of a year passing, it got me thinking. It's been a whole year and I haven't really accomplished anything. I've been fighting but nothing has been actually won. It just saddened me to know that I'd be there talking to my grandfather and I wouldn't really have anything great to say to make him proud of me. I just really hope that my mom can become more at peace with this as time goes by.

"We're going to see the monkeys do it..."

Guess who went to the zoo this weekend? Moi! How I love the zoo! And no, I actually didn't see any monkeys engaged in the horizontal tango. I was excited to see the red panda, but unfortunately its face wasn't visible from the way it had passed out on the branch. Dah, the pictures online are just too cute, I just want to squish it and take it home. Sorry, the girly-ness came out for a bit. It was a bit hot to be walking around but I got to see a bunch of cool animals.

During dinner, our waiter was harassed by a crazy lady. I'm sure he was wishing he wasn't so good looking. At first, I thought she knew the waiter and was just joking around by yelling out her orders to him. But when I saw him turn beat red and talk about how crazy she was to another waiter, I figured she must do this to him all the time. When the other male waiters tried to approach her, she'd scream, "Back the f up soldier!" Then out of nowhere, she screamed, "Yo, I want the General's ji** so I can wipe it on my face!" I swear everyone and their moms heard that comment. It was so hard not to look at her because she was sitting directly across from me.

I also watched Knocked Up. I really wanted to watch it because I thought 40 Year Old Virgin was hilarious but I was hesitant because of Katherine Heigl. I can't stand her as Izzie, especially after this past season so the thought of hearing her voice and that laugh, it just irked me! I know, I'm crazy, she just plays that role. I had warned Kevin that if she really annoyed me in the movie, I might just reach over and pinch him so that I don't flip out. Despite her, it was funny and I enjoyed it.

It's so crazy how human these primates are! This chameleon was the funniest thing! Its eyes moved all over the place - each eyeball would rotate at a different pace and direction!

Giraffes! Poor Mr. Giraffe, no matter how long his neck is, it's still not enough to look over the rocks. I never realized how vicious flamingoes are! At one point, a few of them ganged up on one of them and it was scary. They are a gorgeous color - that color would look hot on a dress. I'm only talking about the color, not actually using any part of the flamingo.
