Memorial Day weekend

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and got to enjoy the sunny & hot weather. I went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End on Friday night. Good thing we bought the tickets in advance and got seats earlier because it was jam packed! I thought the sequel sucked so I figured the last one couldn't do worse. I definitely liked it better than the sequel but I still think the first one was the best. Can I just say how hot Orlando was in the last 5 minutes of the movie? Mr. Rico Suave coming through!

On Saturday, I went out to the city with Susan. She took me to Alice's Tea Cup for brunch. It was a small cute place, very Alice in Wonderlandish. She always goes there when she has the chance and she knew I love drinking tea, so she wanted me to try it out. The waitresses wore fairy wings and they had the wings, wands, and tiaras on sale in the store. I saw a lot of little girls come in with wings. That would definitely be a fun place to take your kids. They have an upstairs that would be perfect for showers, but it's pretty pricey though! Their teapots come with this attached sponge that keeps the tea from dripping down - a pretty nifty idea, not that I was ever bothered by the drippings. We had a pot of their almond tea and black fruits tea, very good. I bought home the Phoenix Dessert blend and Wedding Chai, but I haven't tried them yet. Susan ordered the poached eggs with scones and I had crepes - blackberries with creme anglaise and nutella with marshmallow fluff. They were good but the nutella/marshmallow was overkill with the sweetness factor!

Susan had made an appointment at Bloomie's to check out their Vera Wang dresses. She was so-so with a few of them but I honestly wasn't a fan of any of them. Afterwards, I just followed her around to stores she wanted to check out. She definitely goes to the upper-end stores so that definitely isn't how I roll. I touched a lot of bags and shoes at Bergdorf Goodman. I didn't buy anything but she purchased a Yves Saint Laurent handbag.

We made it back to NJ around 5:30. Kevin had come over because we promised my uncle that he'd setup his computer and hook up the internet. Luckily, I brought Cinnamon to keep me company. You know, since my only job consists of unwrapping things.

At one point, Kevin was tying up all the wires and Cinny decided that Kevin's back was the perfect sitting place! Since we were there for hours, Cinn was pretty pooped from running around and probably bored because I accidentally left his toys at home. He ended up laying on the long pillow and when he went into a deep sleep, he fell off when he rolled over!

On Sunday, we went to a BBQ at his uncle's house. His cousins wanted to play monopoly because it would be a quiet game. It tends to get extremely loud and out of control whenever we play Taboo or Pictionary. Let me just say, I have never seen a game of monopoly with that much yelling! I'd love to see the day when we can find a game that loudness doesn't occur.

I went over to Kevin's on Monday but knew I couldn't stay late because of my balls to the wall Tuesday. Kevin, Jeff, and I ended up going to play some tennis and cooled off in the pool. It definitely took me forever to get in because the water was freezing! There was a sale at the supermarket for Alaskan King Crabs so we had that and a bunch of other stuff for dinner. Crab legs are always good!

Officially there are now 2 words that I utterly despise! Budget cuts. Arrrgggh, budget cuts! Let's just say that it has happened 3 times now that I've lost out on getting a job because of them. You get pumped up like a balloon and POP! Shrivel up into nothing.

Here's the last outfit he got from HK and one of my personal favorites. You know I love stripes and the whole nautical thing. Cinn looks good in yellow.

Here are some cute pics with Cinnamon. There are some really funny sequential ones of Kevin and Cinny, of the faces they're making and the things that they're doing. Kevin caught a picture of Cinnamon coming up close to lick my nose. Too cute!

Flipping sweet!

I went to an authentic Greek restaurant for the first time this weekend. It was pretty good but it wasn't like amazing. Originally, we were going to go to a Caribbean restaurant but somehow Jess was mistaken and it was actually an African/American restaurant. Don't ask how, I don't know how she got it confused. We still felt that we wanted something new, so Jess, Lyd, and I decided to check out a bunch of local restaurants. The first place we went to see was Pithari Taverna. The place looked new and it had this cute outdoor patio, too bad it was way too cold to eat outside. We looked at the menu and decided to give it a try since it looked so authentic. There was some waiting time because we didn't make reservations. I ended up chatting up with this guy and asked for suggestions on what to order, since many of the items on the menu didn't come with descriptions. We ended up getting so much food to share - calamari (the pieces were ginormous), cold spread appetizers with warm pita bread (delicious), pork souvlaki, moussaka, and spanakopeta. There was a large group of people sitting behind us, every time one of them dropped something, they would yell "Opah!" It was a little too My Big Fat Greek Wedding, even our waitress was named Toula!

On Saturday night, Kevin and I were at one of our Italian restaurants. I had stuffed myself silly from the soup and appetizer so I couldn't finish all of my seafood risotto. Normally, I would pick out all the seafood, because I believe in "eating where the money is." I figured Jeff would want it so I saved it for him. Now, I always joke about what would really happen if they threw out your food by accident. I mean, technically you did pay for the entire dish, so you should be able to have it all. Could you actually demand them to remake your portion? So the waiter comes to us, and Kevin says, "Could you please pack these two to go? And the check too?" The waiter grabs the plates and responds with, "Just the check?" We nod and off he goes. We wait and wait, out comes the check only. Even the table behind us had their food packed up. There went our food! No sense in arguing with someone who obviously didn't understand us. That's what I get for making jokes about things like that.

Shrek 3 was cute and had its funny moments. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who still hasn't seen it and wants to. The gingerbread man did do something funny though! I still think Shrek 2 is my favorite though.

My aunt 1 in HK finally found a bling ring in my size and sent it here. My uncle 6 had tried looking when he was visiting there but returned home empty handed. The ring band is the coolest thing that I have ever seen! When I first put it on, I was wondering why the bands were separate and kind of flimsy. As I took it off, I realized that the bands could be flipped over to reveal the other side of where the gemstone was! So you get two rings in one! Fun!

One way to wear it......

then you flip the bands around and you've got the other side!

Bullied

Silliness just occurred, but I'm thinking it's one of those "you had to be there" moments for it to be funny. I went to get a lemon with ai-yu popsicle and as I was walking back to the couch, Cinnamon rams full speed ahead into my ankles. This of course causes me to twist my ankle, trip, and face dive into the sofa. Now if anyone has seen the most recent Inferno 3 episode, you'll know why my face bomb was so hilarious. Very similar to the few cast members who couldn't quite make the trampoline jump, I too looked like a bug smashed on a windshield. As I was yelling in my ankle pain, Cinny jumps onto the sofa and takes a huge lick of my popsicle! I'm sure he was proud of his accomplished mission moment.

Fuzzy wuzzy

There hasn't been much going on over here. Things haven't been resolved or gotten much better but I'm managing. I'd like to think that if you try smiling enough on the outside that you'll trick your mind into believing it!

On Friday night, I had gone over Kevin's to steal his computer ink. His prints come out so much better than mine, plus I am too cheap to buy new color. Yes, so shady, I know. Bach had driven Kevin home from work so we all went out to dinner at the sushi buffet place. I completely stuffed myself silly since I didn't get a chance to have lunch at work. They didn't have any spider rolls that night so I was disappointed.

I also went mini-golfing on Saturday. I normally get bored after a few holes and it's like pulling teeth to get me to finish, you can ask Kevin. This is most probably because I suck at it. I also don't like getting rushed when there are oodles of people waiting behind you. I really have issues when the ball is close to the hole, I usually overshoot it. People think I'm being a jerk and purposely missing but dude, I just can't get it in - I know how pervy that just sounded. They definitely raised the prices for it so I don't see myself going that often. But they did change the grass grounds with lots of different colors. The woman asked if we had a color preference for the balls and I didn't want her to think I was a weird for wanting a specific color. But er duh, why would she ask if people didn't care? I had wanted the lime green or bright orange one, but since I said we didn't care, she gave me pink and Kevin the blue. Could she be anymore sexist with the colors? I am so kidding on that one. I got 1 hole-in-one while Kevin got 2, he almost got a 3rd too. In the end, I actually won! That like never happens! Hmm, maybe I should laminate the score card and make it into a magnet?

Here's Cinnamon in another set of his outfits:

Suuuuuuuper dog is here to save the day! More like here to steal all of your cookies! I love the picture where the wind is blowing into his face, it looks like he's really getting ready to fly.

Whip it good

Look what finally decided to show up?!? After waiting for close to 7 months, I finally got my KitchenAid mixer! I definitely gave it a hug and did a little dance of love. This thing is so heavy but it rocks! I haven't been able to fully use Miss Sassy yet. I did use it to make a bunch of requested cookies. It was amusing to watch the butter being whipped, so nice and smooth.

Here's two of the outfits that Cinnamon got from HK:

Cinny's rocking the army print again.

My uncle loves this police vest. It sort of resembles the vests that officers wear over there. Cinn sticking his tongue at authority!
