31 cents
A few days ago, I was in the Asian supermarket picking up some weekly groceries. Once again, I picked the wrong line to be in for the checkout. The lady ahead of me only had a bag of tomatoes, 5 tomatoes to be exact. The total was $2.31 and apparently all she had on her was $2, nothing else. First of all, who goes into a supermarket with the intent to purchase items but only carries $2? So she decides that she'll only take 4 tomatoes and asks the cashier to remove one. Now the total was less than $2 and I thought I was in the homestretch. The woman has this puzzled look on her face, well apparently she didn't like the weight amount of "those" 4 tomatoes and wants more. She then asks the cashier to put back the tomato and remove a different one. This whole experiment of "which four out of the five tomatoes weighs the most for under $2" lasted for what I felt was eternity. Okay, that's a total exaggeration but I literally had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming and that this tomato swap was in fact happening. In all honesty, normally the cashiers there are pretty nasty so I was shocked to see her willing to participate. I had to fight the urge to just give the lady the freaking 31 cents so that she would leave already!

Haha, I would have given her the 31 cents. Who knows, the random act of kindness might make her smile.
i would've given her the 31 cents and told her to buy a life.
If she were one of those nice human beings, I would've given her 31 cents. But based on her attitude and my experience, if I had handed her the 31 cents, she would have biatched me out (especially since it was an asian supermarket)!
Wow, I haven't heard that in years. Here's a dollar, go buy yourself a life! Hah. She probably woludn't understand the remark. If it were you, you would've chucked the 31 cents at her :P But then again, you wouldn't have picked the bad lane since that's my speciality.
