Feliz navidad

I can't believe how quickly the holidays came and went! Actually, I'm still in awe that it's going to be a new year in a few days! 2006 has definitely been quite the year for me - changes, new beginnings and endings, ups and downs.

I did get to see all the movies that I wanted to this month. The "Night at the Museum" was cute, it wasn't as funny as I was expecting but I think it's a good movie to bring kids to. I'm a bit biased because I love museums. I've always thought that if I got locked in a museum at night, I would totally sit in the corner crying my head off in fear. There are actually some museums that you can "sleep-over" in. Guess who wouldn't be doing that? I wasn't originally planning on watching "Dreamgirls" but the girls wanted to see it so I went along. I had thought it was supposed to be about Diana Ross and the Supremes but they didn't use any of the real names. It was kind of ridiculous because you knew who all the singers were but they didn't use their names. I didn't think it was great but I still enjoyed it.

I feel like there was so much I was going to write about it but I've put it off for so long that my mind's drawing a complete blank right now. In good news, I think that everyone loved the gifts I gave. Not having much to spend definitely makes the job more difficult. I was good this year, I held off on the clothes and asked for things I actually needed.

I went to Kevin's family's xmas party this past Saturday. There was so much dessert there, they had gotten a few cakes from the Cheesecake Factory. I brought over these new brownies that I've been trying out (no, they're not the magic ones), they were very fudgy. One of his cousins told me that she was going to cut it up and bring it into work as her own, I gave her the thumbs up. We were playing Pictionary and I made a complete idiot out of myself. The word was "Alaska", right before I drew it, I told them to not look at my drawing but at Kevin's. I'm not good with geography at all. Somehow I blanked out and convinced myself that Washington was the same thing as Alaska! I bet you guys can figure out which team got that point!

For the first time, my family actually opened presents on Christmas (they usually come over on Christmas Eve). We had two hot pots going on for dinner, don't you just love how American and traditional that we are? Me and my lucky streak, got really really sick at the end of the night. It was so bad, close to Rafferty's incident. Today was actually the first time I started eating real foods, but I am limiting the quantity right now.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful new year! See you in 2007!

Cinnamon's trying to climb the holiday ladder! I think he's the cutest one on it!

One of his xmas gifts. "Yo yo! C-Dawg's in da house!"

Oh snap

While on the street today, a man approached me and said, "Your snaps are undone!" as he winked on by. I immediately freaked and wondered what's come undone?!? I quickly looked at my top - it's a turtleneck, er duh, there are no snaps! Then thinking back to the zipper story from a few days ago (which doesn't physically involve myself), I looked down at my pants - totally fine. Man, it took me forever before realizing a few of the snaps had opened up on my boots. It was nice of him to let me know but the way he said it, it made me think it was something serious.

Smacks, slaps, and laughs

I was over Kevin's house on Friday night and we all just went out to dinner. Jeff showed me all of his new clothing and deals. It's so funny, it's always either Kevin's mom or his brother that love to show me the stuff they buy. Jeff really wanted to play Scrabble, I didn't feel like playing because I didn't want to have to think after the long day I already had. This is so sad for me to admit but I like playing games that are just fun and require no thinking, that's why they're games. But I gave in and told him we'd do one round. Majority of the time, I don't win because I don't calculate which is the best word or place to use, I just place them down (hence the lack of thinking). So guess who won? Me, with a score of 234 against the 145 and 158! I had two amazing words, beehives and gridiron! During the game, we kept making up pervy sentences and movie titles with the words already on the board. We also taught Jeff how to play our smacking game, which by the way, he's not very good at it.

On Saturday, Kevin and I went to my Flyers vs. Capitals game at the Wachovia Complex. It was definitely smaller than MSG but it's newer though. We had the last possible row but in all honesty, it's pretty much the same as some of the 300 sections at MSG. Without my glasses, I was able to see the players and puck, but not the numbers on their jerseys. The food prices there were reasonable and hardly a wait, which was great. I love how bright everything looked, all the boards and advertisements were lighted. They had their own set of girls that cleared the ice and during one of the breaks, they were using these launchers to shoot our free tshirts. I was so excited to see my 12-21 smack down but unfortunately, Forsberg was still out with an ankle issue. My man, Gagne did score 2 goals though, one of them was amazing too! I was disappointed that there wasn't much contact. Kevin said that the fans there were much more civilized. I agree but I also think it's that they've been having a upsetting season this year so everyone's on edge. There was a guy near me that was screaming, "Punch him in the mouth!" the entire time. Towards the end, he started changing it by screaming, "Poke him in the eye! Stab him in the heart!" The Flyers lost 3-5, booo. It's so frustrating, I just want to see a winning game and I've been 0 for 3. In great news though, we saw the scores scrolling for the other games and the Rangers did win though (Shanahan scored)! Oh yeah, Kevin had gotten a haircut in the morning and was talking to his barber and the game came up so his barber told him that he was a Rangers and Flyers fan, which was very unusual. Kevin told him that I was the same exact way.

On Sunday, I got to watch The Holiday and it was cute. I like watching holiday movies with a happy ending. I don't like Jude Law as a person though. I know that I don't actually know him but just the stuff I read about him, not cool. He is good looking though, but the more I look at him, he's actually pretty. He's not hot, but pretty, like a woman.

"Let there be carpet..."

Could someone explain to me why every time I try to do a huge clean-up, it just seems like the mess gets worse? When I get to my frustration point, I just look around and the place looks like room exploded and spat up all over the floor. I figured I wanted to get a few plastic containers to store things. Of course, I went to Target first cause I do love Target. I found the storage section and was having the hardest time separating the containers. No joke, I must have spent at least 10 minutes trying every way possible to get them apart, but I just couldn't! It was so ridiculous. Finally, when I got them apart, there were no lids! I tried on all the lids and not one would fit! I left annoyed and empty handed. Luckily, I was able to find ones that came apart easily at the Wally and they were actually half the price!

With these "seasonal" cleanups, I always donate bags of goodies to the VVA. I swear, they must love me because everything is always in such great quality, and I even label the bags with the contents. I feel like Cher from the movie Clueless, with how she separated the food items by courses. I'm not going to lie, it's definitely hard to let the closet things go. I always think of it in terms of money that was spent on them and that I might just use it again sometime.

Normally, I have all my bags lying across the top shelf but I figured I'd try to be more organized and store most of them into containers. It's actually better because I can stack more on top of each other, but now they're harder to see. I was contemplating labeling what bags were inside each, but I figured I probably wouldn't place them back in the right bins. I actually do label the shoeboxes with what's inside. Trust me, if I had a Polaroid and the film was cheap, I'd probably tape pics on the outside. Ooh, I got a small bin to store Cinnamon's clothes too!

My mom brought home two new outfits for Cinnamon earlier on this week. Keep in mind, I had nothing to do with it so I don't want to hear people yelling at me saying, "he's a boy!" You know what I say, nothing wrong with some cross-dressing, haha. He looks so cute in the kimono though, I LOVE the bow! Move over, Xiyi Zhang, this is how a geisha rolls....

Steaming

I had been having a pretty crappy week and I figured that if I got myself a little something, it could cheer me up a bit. Of course, what I had wanted was mostly sold out everywhere. This morning I made a call and I was told that they had it in PA. I stressed to them that it would be a long commute so I wanted to be sure. The girl reassured me and said she would even put it on hold for me. I made the long drive all bubbly and when I got there, they couldn't find it anywhere. I waited around and the girl helping me decided to go find who I had spoken to. She comes back to me and tells me that they made a mistake, they didn't in fact have what I wanted. Apparently the girl I spoke to realized she screwed up right after we talked. I was so upset as she was telling me this, it's so lame that I was fighting back tears but it was just so frustrating! I told them again that I made a long drive and all they could say to me was "I'm sorry." If I stress to you that you need to be sure, then be sure about it. Don't get my hopes up and then not deliver. I wanted to yell at them for making me drive that far but then I felt bad so all I could say was "oh, it's okay." Besides, it wouldn't have been right since I wouldn't have lashed out at the right person.
