"The snozzleberries taste like snozzleberries.."

Ginormous!

I went blueberry picking for the very first time today. I must admit though, what enticed me was the fact that we could wear the cans! It was really cute, you walk into the farm house and they have so many containers to choose from. From buckets to little and large coffee cans. I chose a small one since I'm the only one in the family that eats blueberries. I find it funny that Kevin couldn't deal with having a "small" can like me so he opted for the macho one. They have these ropes that you just wrap around your waist. After we all picked out our carriers, we stepped outside and waited for this tractor to come pick us up. It was a short ride but fun, I think it would be fun to drive one myself. For some strange reason, I always thought blueberries grew on these short tiny bushes...but nope, they're like taller than me. Let me say, it's incredibly HOT being out there. Not to mention the grounds were muddy and it was an insect paradise, well more like hell for me. I was freaking out at every spider, wasp, cricket, dragonfly...you name it, it was there. But I sucked it up and was able to dart in and out of the bushes and grass. When we finished picking (more like when we couldn't take the heat anymore), we ended up walking back to the house just cause the tractor wasn't coming anytime soon to pick people up. I thought it was going to be expensive since they were organic but I got a little more than 2 pints and it was less than $2. I did win the contest for picking out the biggest blueberry though, go me, first-timer! Unfortunately, I think I didn't put any sunblock on my toes so now they're like flaming red.
On the drive back, we stopped off at a local winery. When I went in, there was a group of bikers that went in as well. Strangely the woman at the tasting bar thought that we were together. Tiny asian girl...hairy tattooed biker dude....the connection, I just don't see it. I would have tasted them all if I wasn't so dehydrated from the picking. I ended up buying a Cabernet Sauvignon for my dad and a Almond Berry one for myself.
We topped it all off with a water ice from Rita's, that definitely hit the spot. While I was eating it, out of nowhere I felt this weird sludgy thing slowly slide down my lower stomach area. I totally screamed thinking that there was a slug thing on me. So I look down my skirt and see this smushed blueberry. I totally forgot, at one point we were all throwing them at each other but I would have to blame either Kevin or Justin for the one that went down my skirt. I'm just amazed that it never fell down while in the winery or Rita's. Man, that would have been embarrassing if I was dropping berries.
